Dear Friends,

Tomorrow marks Aerospace Day.

Aerospace Day recognizes the extraordinary contribution Pennsylvania plays in the aerospace industry. In our region, Greater Philadelphia has truly become an advanced manufacturing hub. Today, more than 5,600 manufacturers call Greater Philadelphia home, employing 190,000 workers across key sub-sectors, including biopharmaceutical, chemical, plastics, food, and aerospace manufacturing. Couple that with our highly skilled, motivated workforce and our affordable, reliable energy, and it’s easy to see why global firms like BoeingLockheed Martin, Piasecki Aircraft, and Leonardo Helicopters established manufacturing operations in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania is leading the way, and we must do all we can to ensure these companies and the numerous companies that serve as suppliers in this sector are encouraged to locate here and grow here. We must create an environment where businesses can flourish with less taxes and less regulation, giving them the opportunity to grow, hire, and succeed.

Sincerely,

Promoting Financial Literacy with Auditor General Tim DeFoor at North Penn High School

It was a pleasure to join Pennsylvania Auditor General Tim DeFoor at North Penn High School, where we had the opportunity to speak with students about the importance of financial literacy. We engaged in a great discussion with students in personal finance classes, focusing on building smart money habits and preparing for a successful future.

Financial literacy is one of the most powerful tools we can provide to the next generation. I’m grateful to North Penn School District for making this a priority in their curriculum and helping equip students with the knowledge they need to thrive financially.

A special thank you to all the students who asked thoughtful questions and engaged in meaningful dialogue. Together, we are working to build a stronger, more financially informed Pennsylvania!

Helping Residents Reclaim Their Unclaimed Property

Last week, my office had the privilege of helping Kaelan, a local resident, recover his unclaimed property. It’s always rewarding to assist individuals in reclaiming what’s rightfully theirs and seeing the difference it made for him was truly special.

If you haven’t checked yet, it’s simple to see if there’s unclaimed property waiting for you. Just visit here to search.

If you need any assistance, my office is here to guide you through the process. Don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help!

Annual Women Veterans Ceremony – Entry Deadline Extended to May 16!

My third annual Women Veterans Ceremony is quickly approaching, set to take place at the Capitol on June 10, 2025. This event, established after the passage of my 2022 legislation designating June 12 as Women Veterans Day in Pennsylvania, is dedicated to honoring the service of women veterans across our great Commonwealth.

Women in the military have made extraordinary contributions, and it’s important to recognize the sacrifices and achievements they’ve made for our country. This event provides an opportunity to celebrate the incredible women who have served. I encourage all women veterans from every branch of the military to join us for this special tribute.

The Women Veterans Ceremony continues to grow, and this year, we’re offering a digital display at the Capitol so that an even larger audience can experience and celebrate the stories of these remarkable women. The display will also be available online, going live on June 9, 2025, at www.senatorpennycuick.com.

If you were featured in last year’s display, you can easily update your submission form here. For new participants, I encourage you to share your service story by completing the required submission form. The deadline for entries has been extended to May 16, 2025.

I look forward to celebrating their contributions with you!

Free License Plate Replacement Event – May 29

Do you have a faded, peeling, or hard-to-read license plate? Join me on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gerald Richards Park (2150 Buchert Road, Sanatoga) for a Free License Plate Replacement Event.

This event is a convenient opportunity for drivers to have their damaged or illegible Pennsylvania license plates inspected and begin the process of receiving a free replacement. Officers from the Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department will be on-site to verify the condition of your plate and complete the necessary documentation.

Keeping your license plate clearly visible is not only important for identification and safety—it’s required by law. I’m proud to host this event to help residents take care of this issue easily and at no cost.

To register, please visit here. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact my office at (215) 541-2388.

The Local Government Commission: A Key Resource for Our Community

The Local Government Commission (LGC) plays an essential role in supporting local governments across Pennsylvania. This bipartisan, bicameral legislative service agency of the Pennsylvania General Assembly works to improve local governance by providing expertise and guidance on a wide range of issues.

Founded in 1935, the LGC is one of the oldest agencies of its kind in the country. Composed of ten members, five from the Senate and five from the House—its work ensures that local governments are equipped with the tools and resources they need to serve their residents effectively.

The Commission helps legislators, local government staff, and community members by offering objective advice on complex issues, drafting and sponsoring legislation, and reviewing intergovernmental cooperation agreements. Its work often leads to long-term solutions that benefit local communities, helping municipalities collaborate on shared concerns and improve overall governance.

Additionally, the LGC serves as a forum for municipal associations to express their views directly to legislators, ensuring that communities of all sizes have a voice in the legislative process. Through these efforts, the Commission helps strengthen local government policies across the state.

For more information on the Local Government Commission and the valuable resources it provides, visit their website here.

Support The Open Link’s Wish List

The Open Link continues to serve our community with vital services — from their food pantry to senior outreach. Right now, they’re in need of everyday items to help meet growing demand.

Their current wish list includes essentials like canned goods, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and grocery store gift cards. Every donation goes directly to helping local families.

If you’re able to contribute, visit here to see the full list and learn how to give!

Federal ID Requirements Change on May 7: Get REAL ID Now

Beginning May 7, standard driver’s licenses will no longer permit you to board flights, visit military bases and enter certain federal facilities. Then, acceptable options will be a passport, military ID or a REAL ID. If you’re not sure whether a REAL ID is right for you, this REAL ID online wizard may be able to help.

You do not need to wait until your driver’s license renews to get a REAL ID. To get one, you must provide documents proving your identity, lawful status, Social Security number and Pennsylvania residency. All acceptable documents must be original versions or certified copies (if applicable).

While documents can be verified for customers who want a REAL ID at any of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) driver license centers, only certain locations can provide your REAL ID the same day. Otherwise, expect to receive your REAL ID within 15 business days after successful document verification.

To make it more convenient for Pennsylvanians to get a REAL ID, PennDOT is offering dedicated time at specific driver license centers on May 5 and 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Beat Breast Cancer with Early Detection

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 25% of women ages 50-74 have not received a mammogram in the past two years.

May is Mammography Month in Pennsylvania – a great time to remind the women in your life to schedule a screening or make your own appointment. When diagnosed at its earliest stages, breast cancer has a survival rate exceeding 90%.

Anyone who is uninsured or underinsured can get a free mammogram through the Pennsylvania Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. All women at high risk of developing breast cancer can also access genetic testing of hereditary cancer syndromes and supplemental breast screenings without any out-of-pocket costs because of landmark legislation Senate Republicans passed in 2023.

May 4-10 is Small Business Week

More than 1 million Pennsylvania small businesses provide jobs for 2.4 million people, and they have a tremendous impact on state and local economies.

When you spend $100 at a small business, $48 goes back into the local community. If you spend $100 at a big box store, only $14 stays local. Shopping at local businesses supports those around us. In addition to shopping and dining local, you can support small businesses by leaving a review and liking and sharing their content on social media.

If you have or would like to start a small business, resources are available for every stage. The PA Business One-Stop Shop offers comprehensive support, personalized guidance and an extensive partner network. Learn more.

State Parks Offer Amazing Outdoor Recreation

According to the 2024 Outdoor Industry Participation Trends Report, participation in outdoor recreation across the country grew by more than 4% to a record 175.8 million Americans in one year. Pennsylvania is a wonderful place to enjoy nature and all it has to offer.

Our state parks and forests offer affordable options for families to take day trips or full vacations. For those who don’t have a recreational vehicle or feel comfortable tenting, parks also offer modern cabins and yurts. Make a reservation for one of the state’s 7,100 campsites.

Parks offer all sorts of fun activities including disc golfing, kayaking, whitewater boating and even hang gliding. While enjoying the great outdoors, don’t miss scenic features like waterfalls, vistas and historic places.

PA Law Protects Patients from Surprise Medical Bills

The No Surprises Act protects patients from surprise medical bills in situations where they have little to no control over who provides their care.

A surprise medical bill is an unexpected medical cost incurred when a patient unknowingly obtains health care services by an out-of-network provider. The No Surprises Act protects patients who receive emergency and non-emergency services from being billed for more than they would have paid if the providers were in-network.

Learn more and submit a bill for review here.
