This week, I had the honor of speaking on the #PASenate floor about Boyertown native and World War II hero, William McMichael.
After more than 80 years, his remains were finally brought home and laid to rest with full military honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, a long-awaited homecoming for a true American hero.

Yesterday, the #PASenate and the @pabreastcancer turned the State Capitol East Wing Fountain 𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐊 to kick off #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth!
The fountain will shine pink all October as a reminder of the importance of mammograms and early detection in the fight against breast cancer.
The event was filled with messages of hope and support — and even free pink milkshakes to mark the occasion.
Let’s keep raising awareness and standing with those impacted by breast cancer this month and beyond. 🎀

Yesterday, I co-chaired a joint Senate hearing with @senatorculver to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is shaping education and workforce development in Pennsylvania.
We heard from educators, workforce experts, and policy leaders about:
🔹 Preparing students for an AI-driven economy
🔹 Using AI responsibly and ethically in schools
🔹 Ensuring critical thinking and student safety remain at the core of learning
AI is already transforming industries and reshaping workplaces. To keep Pennsylvania competitive, we must align education with workforce needs, promote innovation, and establish commonsense guardrails.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the @mcccpa Veterans Breakfast Club. I was honored to be invited to share my story, and even more humbled to sit alongside so many veterans who carry with them experiences, lessons, and memories of service to our nation.
Gatherings like this remind me of the unbreakable bond that exists between those who have served. Each story shared is a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and the continued dedication veterans show in their communities long after their military service ends. 🇺🇸

October 1st marks the start of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. I’m proud to launch a month-long campaign with the @pabreastcancer and our regional YMCAs to raise awareness and share lifesaving information.
Did you know? 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. The good news is that when detected early, most women can live long, full lives—and a mammogram is one of the best tools we have for early detection.
Thanks to Act 1 of 2023, Pennsylvanians insured under state law can now access no-cost breast MRIs, ultrasounds, genetic testing, and genetic counseling.
All month long, local YMCAs will have free information tables with brochures and resources available to the community.
I encourage you to learn more about prevention, early detection, and support services by visiting the PBCC website: pabreastcancer.org

I was honored to recognize Connie Weimer on her retirement as Business Manager of @lowersalfordtownship .
For 25 years, Connie has overseen wastewater management with professionalism, fiscal responsibility, and a deep commitment to the community. It was a privilege to present her with a Senate citation celebrating her many contributions.
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Connie! 🎉

I had a great time at this year`s New Hanover Township`s Fall Frolic at Hickory Park! From the food and local vendors to the rides, games, and even the petting zoo, it was wonderful to see families and neighbors come together to enjoy such a fun community day. 🍂🎡

I was glad to join the Montgomery County Farm Bureau as they celebrated their 75th anniversary! For decades, the Farm Bureau has supported our farmers, strengthened agriculture, and preserved the traditions that make Pennsylvania so special. Congratulations on 75 years of advocacy and leadership in agriculture. 🌾🐄

This week, the #PASenate continues negotiations with the House on a fiscal year 2025-2026 #PABudget.
As I’ve noted, we cannot pass the Governor’s proposed budget increases with a very real $3.5 billion deficit.
Negotiations continue on ways to pay for critical Medicaid costs for those most in need and looking at revenue options such as skills games that don’t hurt small entities such as our VFWs.
No revenue options proposed by the Governor raise enough funds to cover any additional costs. If we do not hold the line on spending this year, next year will be worse.
I’ll continue to keep you posted.

The @marchforlife rally at the State Capitol yesterday was a powerful gathering of people united in their belief in the dignity of every life. The day was filled with compassion, faith, and hope, as individuals of all ages and backgrounds came together with a shared purpose.
Moments like this remind us of the importance of standing firm in our values and working toward a future that reflects respect and care for the most vulnerable among us.

Yesterday was a great day spent in our local schools! ✏️🍎
At Schwenksville Elementary School, I met with Principal Krista Venza and @perkvalleysd Superintendent Dr. Barbara Russell, where I shared Pennsylvania-themed coloring books and donated school supplies with students. Their enthusiasm made the visit especially meaningful.
I also joined @boyertownasd_ to thank Greg Herb for generously providing 2025–2026 calendars to help students with planning and time management. These calendars will be a valuable resource throughout the year.
I’m grateful to everyone—educators, community partners, and students—who make our schools such a positive place to learn and grow!
