Poll Question

In a recent newsletter, we asked: “How comfortable are you with your health-care provider using AI to analyze your medical information?” Below are the results:

Very comfortable – 17%
Somewhat comfortable – 31%
Somewhat uncomfortable – 12%
Very uncomfortable – 27%
Unsure / need more information – 14%

These responses show that while many are open to the potential of AI in health care, others remain cautious or uncertain. As technology continues to evolve, I’ll keep working to ensure that your voices are part of the conversation and that any advancements prioritize patient trust, safety, and transparency.

Calling on Congress to Remove AI Regulation Ban from U.S. Budget Bill

As Co-Chair of the Senate Communications and Technology Committee, I recently joined Senator Nick Miller in urging Congress to remove language from the federal budget bill that would block states from regulating artificial intelligence (AI) for the next ten years.

In a bipartisan letter to Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation, we made it clear: states must be able to act quickly as AI evolves. Here in Pennsylvania, we’ve already taken meaningful steps—like passing Act 125, which criminalizes AI-generated child sexual abuse material and deepfakes. We’re also advancing legislation to combat AI fraud, protect privacy, and support innovation.

Our growing AI ecosystem, depends on strong state leadership. A decade-long federal ban would delay protections for residents and hinder economic growth.

States are the laboratories of democracy. We must be able to respond to emerging challenges and shape AI policy in ways that reflect the needs of our communities. I’m urging Congress to rethink this provision and let Pennsylvania continue to lead in this critical space.

Honoring Our Fallen Heroes in Pottstown

I had the honor of attending the Borough of Pottstown’s Memorial Day Parade—a powerful reminder of the true meaning behind this solemn holiday.

It was a privilege to stand alongside Pennsylvania Auditor General, Rep. Joe Ciresi, and Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello as we paid tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

I was deeply moved to see our community come together in such a heartfelt display of remembrance and gratitude. From our veterans and first responders to the marching bands and families who lined the streets, everyone played a part in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you to all who participated and helped make this tribute so meaningful.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Honored to Serve on the Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy Advisory Council

I’m honored to share that I’ve been appointed to the Advisory Council of the Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy—a program that is truly making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth across Pennsylvania.

The Academy offers a structured, disciplined, and supportive environment where students can reset their paths and build a brighter future. This initiative reflects the very best of what we can do when we invest in mentorship and second chances.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Adjutant General John Pippy, the Pennsylvania National Guard, and the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs for this meaningful opportunity to serve. As a veteran and public servant, I’m proud to support this life-changing program and the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to uplift students and guide them toward success.

This mission is close to my heart, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the Academy and the young people it serves.

Supporting Moms and Babies at Bright Hope

I had the pleasure of visiting Bright Hope Pregnancy Support Centers in Allentown, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible work being done to uplift and care for moms and their little ones.

During my visit, I toured their medical services center, explored their resale shop, and got an up-close look at their mobile ultrasound unit. One of the most impactful parts of the visit was learning about the home they provide for expecting mothers—a safe, supportive space where women can live during pregnancy and bring their babies home with dignity and care.

It was a joy to meet some of the amazing moms and children benefiting from Bright Hope’s services, and to spend time with the dedicated staff who make this mission possible.

Bright Hope is a shining example of how compassion and community can come together to make a lasting difference.

Connecting with Local Leaders at UPV Chamber Luncheon

I had a great time joining the Upper Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce for their 2025 luncheon! It was a pleasure to connect with local leaders, business owners, and community members to share updates on what’s happening in Harrisburg—including key discussions around the upcoming state budget.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I also appreciated the opportunity to engage in timely conversations about policies impacting mental health and overall well-being in our communities. These discussions are essential as we work to ensure every Pennsylvanian has access to the resources and support they need.

Thank you to the Upper Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce for your continued leadership and for creating a space where meaningful conversations can take place.

A Day of Community, Celebration, and Reflection

Last weekend was a full day of community, celebration, and reflection across our region—and I was honored to be part of it all.

The morning began at the Douglass Township–Berks County Treasures event in Boyertown, where local vendors, small businesses, and food trucks came together for a vibrant day of family fun and community spirit.

From there, I joined the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pottstown FARM. For the past decade, this incredible market has worked to connect our community with fresh, local food while supporting our hardworking farmers and producers.

The day concluded with the Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony in Upper Pottsgrove Township—a moving and heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and residents who made each of these events so meaningful. I’m proud to support the people and places that make our community strong.

Successful License Plate Replacement Event Held in Lower Pottsgrove Township

This week, I had the pleasure of hosting a successful License Plate Replacement Event in Lower Pottsgrove Township, where more than 50 residents came out to have their damaged or hard-to-read plates replaced.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to attend and take advantage of this valuable service. I also want to extend a sincere thank-you to the Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department for their support and assistance in helping the event run smoothly.

Events like this are a great reminder of the importance of bringing state services directly to the community. I always appreciate the opportunity to connect with residents and help make these resources more accessible.

PennDOT Announces $1.2 Million in Grants to Boost School Bus Safety

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently announced the availability of $1.2 million through a new School Bus Safety Grant Program designed to enhance the safety of school bus transportation across the Commonwealth.

Under Pennsylvania law, school districts may install automated camera systems to enforce the School Bus Stopping Law, helping to identify drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses. Of the $300 fine issued for each violation captured by these cameras, $25 is directed to PennDOT to fund this grant program. Grants awarded may be used to promote and improve school bus safety, provide education and training, and support individuals seeking their commercial learner’s permit, commercial driver’s license, or school bus endorsement to become school bus drivers in Pennsylvania.

Independent school bus contractors, school entities, and municipalities are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted online at grants.pa.gov from June 2 through 12:00 AM on July 3, 2025.

Additional details are available here, and questions about the application process may be sent to RA-PDASBEGP@pa.gov.

Bill to Increase Firefighters in PA Receives Senate Support

Pennsylvania relies on volunteer firefighters, but their numbers are dropping – from 300,000 in the 1970s to fewer than 38,000 today. To help ensure there are enough firefighters to respond to a crisis, the Senate passed a bill that would reform the process for people earning their firefighter certification.

Senate Bill 90 would maintain the high standards to become a firefighter while making it less intimidating for men and women who are interested in serving their communities as volunteer firefighters. Currently, firefighter applicants must complete four training modules totaling 188 hours. They then must pass a cumulative test covering all four modules. The bill would allow them to be tested following each of the four modules.

Senate Bill 90 heads to the House of Representatives for further consideration.

Prevent Surprises on the Road with PennDOT’s Construction Plans

As the weather improves, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is spending more time maintaining the state’s approximately 40,000 roadway miles and 25,400 bridges.

You can be aware of and plan for delays you experience driving by checking the status of construction projects in your area. Information about projects underway, beginning and being bid this year is listed here.

Road work projects are chosen through an extended planning process in four-year and 12-year increments. Learn more about the State Transportation Improvement Plan and the Twelve Year Program.

Beware of Counterfeit Weight Loss and Diabetes Drugs

If you purchase GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, which are typically used for weight loss and diabetes, anywhere other than a licensed pharmacy, you could be buying counterfeit products.

As supplies have not kept pace with overwhelming consumer demand, a counterfeit market has emerged for these drugs. Using counterfeit products is dangerous.

Attorney General Dave Sunday is urging consumers to report suspicious products by calling the Drugs Tip Line at 800-442-8006. Read more.

Enjoy a Great American Getaway in PA

Tourism is an important part of Pennsylvania’s economy. In 2022, the most recent year with available data, we welcomed more than 192 million travelers and benefited from $45 billion in visitor spending.

The commonwealth has a lot to offer, even to people who call it home. Find some great ideas for vacations and day trips here.

PA Offers Free Motorcycle Training

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, a great time to sign up for a motorcycle safety course whether you’re a novice or experienced rider. Classes are free for Pennsylvanians who have a motorcycle learner’s permit or motorcycle license.

Successful completion of a basic or intermediate course offered by the state waives the requirement to take a skills test at a PennDOT driver license center and automatically earns the permit holder their motorcycle license.

Class schedules are coordinated by third-party training providers at locations across the commonwealth and posted online at least four weeks before the class begins. Learn more about Pennsylvania’s Motorcycle Safety Program.
