HARRISBURG – Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) announced the approval of state funding for key redevelopment projects in Pennsburg, Collegeville and Schwenksville boroughs.
Pennsburg Borough was awarded $847,850 to renovate the current borough hall and adjacent public works garage. Borough hall renovations include roof repair and replacement, window replacement and improved exterior lighting. Improvements to the garage include new overhead doors and openers, new gas overhead heating, new interior office with break room, storage room, office and restroom, and the construction of a new salt shed.
Collegeville Borough was awarded $500,000 for the revitalization of the 400 block of Main Street. The project includes the repurposing of a garage in the rear of 426 E. Main St. into a Craft Spirit Distilling and Bottling Facility. The project also includes the creation of a tasting room/café at 454 E Main St. serving locally sourced coffee, food and alcoholic beverages.
Pugliese Brothers Inc. was awarded $500,000 to transform the historic Old National Bank of Schwenksville into a multipurpose retail campus. Key components include the restoration of the existing structure to preserve its architectural heritage, as well as construction of an addition. The interior will be renovated to accommodate a restaurant/brewpub and a coffee shop.
“This funding will provide vital support to projects that will renovate and transform properties in Pennsburg, Collegeville and Schwenksville,” Pennycuick said. “Keeping our municipal buildings up to date, revitalizing Main Streets and preserving historic buildings are crucial components to maintaining thriving communities. I’m very happy to announce this support.”
The funds were awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
