HARRISBURG – Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) and Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-131) today presented Pennsburg Borough officials with an $847,850 state grant for key municipal building renovations and upgrades.
The project will include asbestos abatement, structural repairs and the construction of a new salt shed. Additionally, the entire Public Works garage will be renovated with new utility connections and increased space for vehicles. These improvements will provide adequate storage for a wide variety of equipment and supplies which the borough uses to maintain its facilities and infrastructure.
The project will have a significant impact on Pennsburg’s ability to serve its residents, address concerns posed by inclement weather and ensure the borough is able to operate effectively during emergency situations.
“I’m extremely pleased to be able to deliver this state assistance to Pennsburg so that local taxpayers don’t have to bear the full burden of these much needed, but expensive, renovations,” said Pennycuick. “It’s important that tax dollars return to our communities to alleviate the cost of major projects and improve the delivery of local government services.”
“I am so happy to see the community of Pennsburg receiving this generous amount of state funding today,” said Mackenzie. “The renovations to the Borough Hall and public works garage were sorely needed and will address the critical needs for safety and functionality. Everyone in Pennsburg will benefit!”
The grants were awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
