HARRISBURG – Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24), in partnership with PA Banking and Securities, PA State Police, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and AARP Pennsylvania Office, recently hosted a successful Scam Jam at the Skippack Township Building to educate the community about the latest holiday scams and provide tips to protect themselves from fraud.
The event, held on December 13, brought together over 50 attendees to learn about common scams such as phishing emails, fake online shopping sites, charity scams, etc. Experts discussed the tactics used by scammers, as well as strategies to identify and avoid these schemes.
“By working together with our community partners, we can raise awareness and empower individuals to protect themselves from fraud,” said Pennycuick. “It’s crucial to stay vigilant, especially during the holiday season when scammers often intensify their efforts.”
The Scam Jam was part of a larger effort to raise awareness about fraud and identity theft. By providing information and resources, individuals are able to make informed decisions and protect themselves from financial loss.
Future Scam Jam events are planned in the coming year to continue this important work.
