
HARRISBURG – Today, Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) announced grants she helped secure for six community projects in Berks and Montgomery counties.
“I’m always happy to help bring funding back to the 24th Senate District. These organizations work tirelessly to provide essential services to my constituents, and I’m confident this funding will help support their efforts. I will continue to do all I can to ensure organizations in my district have the resources needed to meet the growing demands of our communities,” said Pennycuick.
Senator Pennycuick helped secure grants through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for the following organizations:
- Red Hill Volunteer Fire Company – $75,000 for the paving of its parking lot.
- Trappe Fire Company No. 1 – $67,000 for upgrades and renovations to its station.
- Peaceful Living (which provides residential living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities) – $60,000 for a new ADA-accessible vehicle.
- Children’s Alliance Center of Berks County (which provides support services for child victims of sexual abuse) – $70,000 for training and workforce development.
Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams, and Children’s Alliance Director Amy Sundstrom, jointly stated: “Our office is so thankful to Senator Pennycuick for her support in our mission to provide a safe and comfortable place for child abuse victims in the aftermath of their victimization. Senator Pennycuick was instrumental in connecting us with this essential funding, which will allow us to sustain our current staffing level, upgrade our outdated interview system and support our training needs. We cannot thank her enough for her support.”
- Boyertown Area Multi-Service – $40,000 for repairs to a broken elevator and kitchen upgrades for its senior center.
Hope Claypoole, director at the Multi-Service, stated: “Boyertown Area Multi-Service extends our heartfelt gratitude to Senator Pennycuick’s office for their unwavering support in helping our nonprofit secure a $40,000 grant. This vital funding will enable us to upgrade our elevator repairs, essential kitchen upkeep, and preventative maintenance. These improvements are crucial to ensuring the safety and security of the cherished community members we serve.”
- The Pottstown Salvation Army – $40,000 for repairs to a broken elevator.
Rev. Bonnie Camarda, Director of Partnerships for the Salvation Army of Eastern PA and Delaware stated: “The Salvation Army is grateful to Senator Pennycuick for her commitment to our Pottstown Corps. She has steered critically needed aid to this facility that serves families in crisis and recently steered $40,000 toward the replacement of an elevator, matching private dollars to complete this needed project. We are grateful to the Senator for her support and commitment to those most in need.”
