Pennycuick Announces CFA Award for Berks County Conservation District

HARRISBURG – Today, Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) announced that she helped secure a grant for the Berks County Conservation District (BCCD) through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Watershed Restoration and Protection Program.

BCCD will receive $143,703 to assist with a crucial streambank restoration project in Pike Township, Berks County. This project will address growing concerns regarding public safety and environmental sustainability that have been raised in recent years as a result of the continued deterioration of the streambank along Oysterdale Road.

“I was proud to support this vital project,” said Pennycuick. “This funding will allow the Conservation District to move forward with essential stormwater and roadway improvements at a site in urgent need of attention. The proposed work will not only enhance vehicle safety but will also contribute to the health and resilience of the surrounding ecosystem.”

The Watershed Restoration and Protection Program (WRPP) is funded through the Marcellus Legacy Fund, established under Act 13 of 2012. Administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, WRPP provides grants to support projects that restore and protect Pennsylvania’s watersheds from nonpoint source pollution.
