Pennycuick and Scheuren Announce Over $1.1 Million in Grants to Support Montgomery County Communities

State assistance for local projects

HARRISBURG — Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) and Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-147) announced grants they secured for projects in Montgomery County today. The awards, which total over $1.1 million, were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide Program.

“I’m proud to support projects like these that enhance recreational spaces and provide relief for our first responders,” said Pennycuick. “I look forward to continuing my work with Representative Scheuren to bring state investments back to our communities.”

The following projects will be awarded funding through this program:

Douglass Township (Montgomery County) will receive $84,527 to purchase a new vehicle for its police department.

Lower Frederick Township will receive $318,813 for a sanitary sewer system rehabilitation project along Zieglersville Road.

Lower Salford Township will receive $510,757 to create an ADA accessible playground at Alderfer Park.

New Hanover Township will receive $141,526 on behalf of New Hanover Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, to assist with improvements to its fire station.

Upper Pottsgrove Township will receive $79,990 to purchase a new police vehicle.

“These grants are meaningful investments in community safety, reliability and long-term sustainability to equip those who protect and serve with the tools they need to respond effectively and confidently,” said Scheuren. “I was happy to work with Senator Pennycuick to deliver these dollars to Montgomery County.”

The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The CFA is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
