Pennycuick to Host Social Media Safety and Parental Awareness Session Oct. 13

RED HILL – Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) is inviting 24th Senate District residents to her upcoming Social Media Safety and Parental Awareness informational session on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Boyertown Area High School, 120 N. Monroe St., Boyertown.

“Children and teenagers spend so much time in the rapidly changing digital realm, and many parents don’t fully understand how they interact with it and threats to look out for,” Pennycuick said. “I put together this informational session to separate fact from fiction and give parents the knowledge to keep their kids safe.”

The session will feature:

  • Tips for safe use of social media, gaming platforms and other online communication.
  • Expert advice on cyberbullying, sextortion and deepfakes, and what to do if it happens.
  • Addressing student mental health concerns in a digital world.
  • Ideas for communicating with children about online threats.
  • Emerging trends parents should know about.

  • Dr. Sara George, Assistant Director- Student Services and K-12 Education, Office of Early Childhood and Student Services, Berks County Intermediate Unit.
  • Jacquelin M. Hamer. Assistant DA, Berks County District Attorney Office, Juvenile Division.
  • Pam Siemens, Administrator, Berks County Office of Mental Health.
  • Andrew McCloskey, TFO Berks County Detective, Community Anti-Threat Team, FBI Philadelphia Division – Allentown.
