RED HILL – Senator Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) announced the following grants in the 24th district, which includes parts of Berks and Montgomery Counties.
Boyertown Borough will receive $60,000 to purchase and install an emergency generator for the Trout Run Dam Pump Station located in Earl Township. The Trout Run Dam is the primary water supply for the Boyertown Borough water system which serves a population of approximately 8,000 people. When there is a loss of power at the pump station, the plant operator is required to switch to the Popodickon Dam for the supply of water. The Popodickon Dam is a considerably smaller body of water. The installation of the emergency generator will allow for continued, uninterrupted use of the pump station during temporary power outages due to storms or other natural disasters.
Hereford Township will receive $67,095 for a new playground structure. This project will replace the existing deteriorated playground at Treichlers Mill Park. The new playground will be made of commercial grade vinyl, which is a low-maintenance material. In addition to the new playground, the project will also install new wood fiber mulch, a playground border, and improve drainage in the area.
Topton Borough will receive $57,295 for the rehabilitation of a chlorine chamber at a wastewater treatment plant. The concrete base of the chamber is deteriorating due to corrosion from the chlorine. This is causing damage to the concrete structure, which allows organisms to grow and hinders the disinfection process. The proposed project will rehabilitate the chlorine chamber by repairing the concrete and installing a protective coating to prevent future damage.
Pennsburg Borough will receive $376,000 for improvements along Eleventh Street.
Green Lane Borough will receive $100,000 for the installation of ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps.
Skippack Township will receive $182,190 for pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection of Cross Road and Spencer Drive.
Upper Gwynedd Township will receive $306,229 for the relocation of the Sumneytown Pike Pedestrian Bridge located in Landsdale.
“As a state Senator, ensuring our roads, bridges, parks, and water infrastructure are safe, modern and efficient is a top priority. I’m pleased to assist our municipalities with funding for these important local projects to better ensure the well-being of our citizens,” said Senator Pennycuick.
