HARRISBURG – Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) and Rep. Matt Bradford (D-70) presented a $500,000 state grant for the renovation and reuse of the Old National Bank of Schwenksville.
The building at 415 Main Street dates back to 1872. The lawmakers presented the grant to Pugliese Brothers, Inc. for a project converting the property into a new multi-use space, with commercial retail on the first floor and apartments above.
“It’s exciting to deliver this state assistance to help give new life to a building with so much history,” Pennycuick said. “It’s crucial that tax dollars return to the district to help local communities pay for projects that are much needed but quite expensive. When completed, this renovated property will be a great addition to Main Street.”
“I’m thrilled for this important investment in the revitalization of the Old National Bank into a retail space, which will bring new local businesses for our Schwenksville Borough neighbors to enjoy,” said Rep. Bradford. “I’m grateful to the Shapiro Administration for investing in our community.”
The grant was awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
