HARRISBURG — Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) announced grants she secured for community projects in Montgomery County today. The awards, which total over $3.7 million, were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide Program.
The following projects will receive funding:
Collegeville Borough will receive $200,000 to restore the playground at Collegeville Community Park, installing a rubber ADA-compliant surface and two shade structures.
Collegeville Trappe Joint Public Works will receive $250,000 to improve groundwater sources and ensure long-term compliance with U.S. EPA and PA DEP PFAS regulations.
Lower Pottsgrove Township will receive $1,000,000 to create an ADA accessible playground at Sanatoga Park. The project includes installation of new equipment, asphalt paving, fencing, lighting, and additional site amenities.
Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority will receive $417,226 on behalf of Historic Trappe, to assist with roof replacement and structural restoration at two buildings of the Historic Trappe Center. Failing slate roof sections and gutters will be replaced at the Dewees Tavern building, and timber framing, cupolas, and masonry gambles will be restored at the Muhlenberg Parsonage building.
North Wales Water Authority will receive $126,400 to purchase two public service utility vehicles equipped for water quality monitoring and system maintenance.
North Wales Water Authority will also receive $200,000 to replace 1,850 linear feet of the deteriorated Sumneytown Pike water main to prevent breaks, reduce water loss, and lessen service disruptions.
Pottstown Borough will receive $250,000 to repair the aging stormwater arch under the Borough-owned property located at 657 Beech Street at the intersection of Grant Street.
Pottstown Borough will also receive $550,000 on behalf of Good Will Steam Fire Engine Company #1 for the purchase of a new fire engine.
Towamencin Township will receive $300,000 to replace approximately 2,325 linear feet of the Skippack Creek Interceptor pipe which is crucial for protecting water quality and ensuring sewer system reliability.
Upper Gwynedd Township will receive $414,460 to purchase a new street sweeper. The vehicle will be used to keep roadways free from debris, reduce stormwater contamination, and improve roadway safety through maintenance.

The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The CFA is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
