HARRISBURG — Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) and Rep. Milou Mackenzie (R-131) announced grants they secured for projects in Montgomery County today. The awards, which total $765,109, were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide Program.
“I’m so glad we were able to support these essential community projects.” said Pennycuick. “These are worthwhile investments that will go a long way in promoting community safety and infrastructure improvements for residents of the Upper Perkiomen Valley.”
The following projects will be awarded funding through the LSA Statewide program:
East Greenville Borough will receive $68,577 to purchase a new vehicle for its police department.
Marlborough Township will receive $63,191 to purchase a new vehicle for its police department, as well as $308,815 to purchase a new dump truck for its public works department.
Pennsburg Borough will receive $25,996 to purchase new non-lethal tasers and equipment for the Upper Perk Police Department.
The Upper Montgomery Joint Authority (UMJA) will receive $298,530 to rehabilitate and replace aging manholes throughout the Boroughs of Pennsburg, Red Hill, and East Greenville.
“I am very pleased that this LSA funding will be coming into our local communities to help them move forward with much needed projects,” said Mackenzie. “How wonderful to know that these essential services and improvements to our local infrastructure will be of benefit to the residents in my legislative district.”
The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The CFA is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
