“Shapiro’s $51.5 billion budget proposal, presented to the legislature, calls for a $3.6 billion increase in state spending—a 7.5% jump from the current year’s budget. I’m deeply concerned that Governor Shapiro’s budget proposal would deplete our reserves, leaving Pennsylvanians vulnerable to the very things they can least afford—future tax hikes or severe cuts to essential programs. This spending plan needs significant revisions.”
–Senator Tracy Pennycuick
Our next steps will be to identify underperforming programs and identify savings. The Senate Appropriations Committee will hold public hearings to examine the Shapiro spending plan from Feb. 18, 2025, through March 6, 2025. Bookmark this page and check back for updates.
