HARRISBURG – Senator Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) announced today that she helped secure grants for six law enforcement agencies in the 24th Senate District through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.
“I was proud to support these important investments in the safety of our communities.” said Pennycuick, “This funding will ensure that our law enforcement officials have access to the resources they need to carry out their duties effectively. Public safety initiatives will always be among my highest priorities as a legislator, and I look forward to seeing the impact of these awards very soon.”
The projects being funded are as follows:
Montgomery County SWAT-Western Region Team – $221,337 to purchase new equipment.
“The Montgomery County SWAT-Western Region Team recently received a grant to replace expiring personal protective equipment for its members.” said Chief Matthew Deichert. “The team was able to obtain ballistic vests and plates, communication headsets, ballistic helmets, and other ancillary items. We would like to thank Senator Pennycuick for her support to keep our team members safe and equipped with the latest protective gear.”
Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department – $21,260 to purchase new equipment.
Chief Richard Bell stated “Lower Pottsgrove Township and specifically the Police Department would like to thank Senator Pennycuick for the very generous grant award. Without this funding, it would have been a major challenge for the police department to upgrade our equipment since the township has a very limited budget.”
Douglass Township Police Department, Montgomery County – $32,000 to purchase new equipment.
“On behalf of the Douglass Township Police Department, Montgomery County, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude for awarding us the DCED grant.” said Chief Robert Evans. “We are honored to receive this funding and deeply appreciate the Senator’s commitment to strengthening public safety and supporting law enforcement agencies. It not only alleviates financial pressure but also encourages us to work even harder to achieve our objectives.”
Lower Salford Township Police Department – $26,000 to purchase new body-worn cameras.
“Senator Pennycuick’s commitment to public safety and responsible policing is greatly appreciated.” said Chief Tom Medwid. “These cameras will serve as an important tool in protecting both our officers and the public, while reinforcing our shared goal of professionalism and integrity in law enforcement.”
Lower Frederick Township Police Department – $60,245 to purchase a new police vehicle
Chief Brian Cass stated “The Lower Frederick Township Police Department would like to thank Senator Pennycuick for her effort in securing funding in the amount of $60, 245 for the purchase of a new police vehicle and patrol equipment. We are deeply grateful for Senator Pennycuick’s unwavering support for the residents and officers of Lower Frederick Township.”
Upper Perk Police Department – $26,000 to purchase new body-worn cameras.
“I want to extend my sincere thanks to Senator Pennycuick and her staff for their invaluable assistance in securing the funding necessary to purchase body-worn cameras for the Upper Perk Police Department.” said Chief Joe Adam. “These body-worn cameras will enhance public trust, while also reducing complaints and use-of-force incidents. We are grateful for the continued support from our elected officials and look forward to the positive impact this technology will have on our officers and the community we serve.”
