Pennycuick and Scheuren Announce PENNVEST Grant for PFAS Removal in Montgomery County

HARRISBURG – Senator Tracy Pennycuick (R-24) and Representative Donna Scheuren (R-147) announced today that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has approved Aqua PA, Inc. for a $955,000 grant to remediate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination at the Ivy Ridge Well Station in Upper Frederick Township, Montgomery County.

“Every day we learn more about the harmful effects PFAS contaminants have on our health and ecosystem, which is why this project is so critical.” said Pennycuick. “I’m so glad to see PENNVEST has approved a significant grant to assist with PFAS remediation in our communities.”

“This grant will allow for multiple critical upgrades to the well pump in this area, which are necessary to preserve water quality here in the 147th,” said Scheuren. “It’s an investment of nearly $1 million and helps to ensure our water remains safe. This is an important issue, and working closely with Sen. Pennycuick, we secured this vital funding together.”

Established through Act 16 of 1988, PENNVEST is a financing authority that provides low-cost financial assistance to address water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source pollution problems that impact public health, safety, the environment, regulatory compliance, and economic development.
